I worked with the client to develop yard signs to display information about installing native plant and pollinator gardens, particularly for large sites. To install a garden without herbicides, they cover the ground with a dark plastic sheet for several weeks to get rid of weeds and other unwanted growth. After that, a wood fibrous mat is installed and plants are put into the ground through the mat. It takes a while, sometimes not until the next growing season, for the plants to get to full growth and fill the space. To take advantage of the awkward-looking 'in-progress' phase, we developed signs to educate passersby and inform those unfamiliar with the process. In addition to the sign's extended brand awareness and promotion during this phase, it allows the business to educate the public about the importance of supporting pollinators in an environmentally responsible way.
